One of the greatest challenges facing rural populations is access to physicians in a timely manner. In many cases, the best physicians are limited in their outreach to high-demand rural areas simply based on the travel time and logistics to reach those areas.
One telehealth integration project involves connecting physicians to 74 clinics in 11 states. Karna is providing strategic, operation and technical consulting on the most appropriate technology platform and identifying vendors that match existing patient population realities. Karna is also producing training materials that will set up region-specific Centers of Excellence to allow for further expansion of the telehealth platform.
It is estimated that 30% more follow-up visits will be performed via telehealth with the same physician workforce, meeting the goal of timely outreach for rural patients.
