The Karna team works on global health issues wherever necessary, whether on-site in foreign countries, or from our offices and client’s offices here in the United States.
In an effort to effectively address global health challenges, Karna provides strategies and innovative solutions on-site in foreign countries, from our offices and client’s offices here in the United States. Our work in support of global health spans our range of capabilities: Management Consulting, Information Technology, Training and Health Communications, Scientific Research, Evaluation and Laboratory.
Karna leverages the experience we have in subject matter areas to help build the workforce capacity in other countries. We can provide tactical one-on-one training, remote web-based seminars, and on-site classes. In Tanzania, we combined our laboratory and training expertise to support CDC’s Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP) startup. Karna provided staff based in Tanzania to work closely with CDC, the Tanzania Ministry of Health and districts to implement the local FELTP.
Our work in health communications includes development of campaigns, messaging, and materials that are globally appropriate and culturally sensitive. We provide support throughout the communications lifecycle, from strategy to dissemination. For CDC’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, Karna staff provided a range of support services that included hands-on support for data collection and prevention activities at airports and ports of entry and devising communication plans and materials in response to emergent issues.
Karna develops information technology solutions that are appropriate to the deployment location. We understand that the need for accurate and timely status must be met with accessible and sustainable methods.
Our laboratory expertise ranges from training to certification to operation. We can provide technical assistance as needed or develop training modules and prep assays. Karna supported the Division of Global HIV & TB (DGHT) laboratory branch in their aim to train technicians worldwide to use Asanté™ Recency Assays to detect HIV infection. We certified laboratory technicians’ onsite in Guatemala, Vietnam, Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria.
